The Florida Surf Lessons Safe Surfer Certification program teaches you the safety principles and helps you develop the knowledge, and skills, that are needed to safely pursue surfing.

For years Florida Surf Lessons' major objective has been to provide the necessary training to safely and properly introduce new surfers into the wonderful world of surfing. It only seemed like a natural next step to introduce an important program like this.

The Safe Surfer Certification is a comprehensive program that requires the applicant to pass all 7 requirement sections: The basics Safety Paddling Judging and catching a wave Standing up Riding down the line Turning

Once the applicant successfully passes all 7 sections the applicant will be awarded a certification of completion.

Who should get Safe Surfer Certified? New surfers Experienced surfers Parents of surfers and future surfers Lifeguards Oceanfront personnel supervising surfing activities Those who want to be recognized for their high degree of surf safety awareness and surfing knowledge.

Special Note to Parents:

Parents play a key role in developing safe practices and are ultimately responsible for the behavior and safety of their children. Because isolated lessons and concepts can be quickly forgotten, repetition will help children remember standard safety procedures.

Parents who accept the responsibility to learn, practice and help teach the rules of safe surfing will ensure their child's safety to a much greater extent than those who do not.

It is critical for your child to know what to do when she or he is in the ocean surfing, and it is the parents' responsibility to provide the opportunity for that training.

Names with completion dates are kept on file for future reference for those who complete the Safe Surfer Certification program.

1. Contact Florida Surf Lessons today to get registered with the program
2. Pay your $25.00 registration fee
3. Pick up in person or have mailed the manual and testing sheets
4. Study and prepare for testing
5. When ready, contact Florida Surf Lessons to schedule a day and time to get tested - each requirement test takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

 • Age Requirements: Min 5 yrs old - For both Children and Adults - Women and Men
 • Special Requirements: A desire to become a safer and more knowledgeable surfer
 • Included: Students manual, test preparation sheets, and certificate upon completion
 • Length: 30 minutes allowed to complete each requirement test
 • When Offered: Year round in South and Central Florida
 • Registration: $25.00
 • Testing Fees:
        - FREE when tied in with all private surfing lessons and small group surfing lessons
        - $35.00 private testing / offered daily
        - $25.00 group testing / offered the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month
